Cybersecurity Badges 1,2 & 3 for Seniors

Discover what it really means to stay safe online with STEM the Gap Academy’s Cybersecurity Workshop for Girl Scouts. In this two and a half hour experience, participants step into a world where every click, message, and login matters.

Rather than simply learning definitions, girls will uncover how cyber threats actually happen and what makes people vulnerable. They will explore how hackers think, how data is tracked, and how everyday online behaviour can either protect or expose personal information. From securing devices to recognising digital red flags, each concept is grounded in real situations they may already encounter.

This workshop takes a hands-on, investigative approach. Participants will work through interactive challenges where they analyse suspicious activity, respond to potential breaches, and make decisions under pressure. They are not just learning cybersecurity; they are actively applying it.

A key focus is awareness. Girls begin to understand that cybersecurity is not just about technology; it is about judgment, habits, and responsibility. They will leave with practical tools they can use immediately, along with a clearer understanding of how their actions shape their digital safety.

This experience also introduces cybersecurity as a powerful and relevant field within STEM. It shows girls that they are capable of understanding complex systems and playing an active role in protecting themselves and others.

No prior experience is needed. By the end of the session, participants will have earned the foundation to approach the digital world with greater awareness, confidence, and control.
