Coding Badges 2 & 3 for Brownies

In the Brownies Digital Game Design and App Development badge, girls will explore how ideas are transformed into interactive games and useful apps while working toward earning their Digital Game Design and App Development badges. This session introduces them to the thinking behind digital creation, where imagination meets structure, and every choice shapes the experience.

Participants will begin by stepping into the role of game designers, planning and building their own maze game. As they test and adjust their designs, they will learn how small changes can improve how a game feels and functions. This process helps them understand that creating technology is not about getting it right the first time, but about refining ideas through trial, feedback, and improvement.

The workshop then shifts into app development, where girls explore how technology can be used to help others. They will break down a real-world challenge into smaller, manageable steps and design an app that offers a simple, thoughtful solution. This introduces them to the idea that technology can be purposeful and people-focused.

Throughout the session, there is a strong focus on empowerment. Girls are encouraged to think independently, trust their ideas, and recognise that their creativity has value in digital spaces. They begin to see themselves as capable of building and shaping technology, not just using it.

By the end of the badge, participants will have created their own game and designed an app concept, while gaining confidence in their ability to think critically, solve problems, and bring ideas to life through technology.
