Coding Badges 1, 2 & 3 for Ambassadors
Join STEM the Gap Academy for a 2.5-hour workshop where Girl Scouts work toward earning their Coding Basics, Digital Game Design, and App Development badges while exploring how ideas turn into real digital experiences.
This session is built around doing, not just learning. Participants begin by breaking down how instructions work in code, using creative exercises like song lyrics to understand functions and loops in a way that feels natural and memorable. From there, they shift into game design, where they think about how choices, rules, and challenges shape a player’s experience, especially when games are designed with purpose.
The final part of the workshop focuses on building practical tools. Girls explore how information is organised and used to create simple apps that support everyday habits and decisions. This connects coding to real life, making it clear that technology is not separate from their world, but something that can improve it.
What sets this experience apart is how it positions girls in the process. They are not following steps; they are making decisions. They are encouraged to think through problems, test ideas, and recognise that their thinking has value in technical spaces.
By the end of the workshop, participants will have worked across multiple areas of technology, gaining not just exposure but a sense of ownership over what they create and how they approach challenges.
*Badges are not included. *Payments may be subject to a small foreign transactionalfee.
