Our Digital Girl Website Creation Course expertly equips girls with the essential digital skills they will need to succeed in the world of today and tomorrow.
In this comprehensive course, girls will learn how to design and create their own websites using HTML, CSS, and JS. They will explore basic tags and selectors in HTML and CSS and learn about the basic structure of HTML. They will also learn to embed images, audio, and videos into their websites. The course will cover installing VS code and teach them about classes and ids in HTML. Girls will start by creating a simple business card using CSS and HTML, then move on to designing a fully functional website. They will learn how to create a website that can receive user requests via email and how to style different pages and sections of their websites. By implementing JS and hosting their websites on Github, girls will gain the skills and knowledge to create and showcase their unique online presence.
By the end of the course, your Digital Girls will not just have fully functioning websites but also the confidence and skills to continue creating and sharing their digital projects with the world. Course Duration: Online instruction for Website Creation will consist of six 1.5-hour classes and one empowerment class.

Course Breakdown:
Week 1: Introduction to HTML, CSS and JS - Participants will be introduced to the fundamental concepts of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and begin building their first website.
Week 2: Multimedia Embedding and Basic Structure of HTML - Participants will learn how to embed multimedia files, such as images and videos, into their website while also learning about the basic structure of HTML.
Week 3: Applying Selectors and Styles with CSS & HTML - Participants will delve deeper into CSS and HTML by learning how to use selectors to apply styles to their websites, including colour schemes, fonts, and layouts.
Week 4: Project - (Multi-Page Website) - Part-1 - HTML - Participants will begin their first project, building a multi-page website using HTML.
Week 5: Project - (Multi-Page Website) - Part-2 - CSS - Participants will continue working on their project, learning how to apply CSS styles to enhance their website's appearance.
Week 6: Project - (Multi-Page Website) - Part-3 - JS + Hosting - Participants will complete their project by adding interactivity to their website using JavaScript and learning how to host it on GitHub.
Week 7: Empowerment Class - This class will build participants' confidence and resilience while equipping them with tools to navigate and combat systemic injustices and misogyny in the STEM industry.
